Konstantin Raudive ( Latvian Konstantīns Raudive ; born April 30, 1909 in the community Asūne near Dagda , Russia ; † September 2, 1974 in Bad Krozingen ) was a Latvian parapsychologist , writer and translator .

Life

Raudive, from a Catholic peasant family, attended the Krāslava grammar school and a seminary in Riga . He studied psychology in Paris , Madrid and Edinburgh . He is said to have also studied with Carl G. Jung . After stays in Italy and Finland, he returned to Latvia in 1938. Raudive was a professor of psychology at Riga University . In 1940 he published the work Dzīves kultūrai in Latvia. Mūsdienu cilvēka Genealogie ( Eng . Life for Culture. Problems of Modern Man ). In its second edition (1942) it says among other things:

“The National Socialist worldview corresponds to the deepest nature of human beings and creates a radiant power in human beings that leads to a higher degree of moral and character development. National Socialism, which fights for higher national values, also fights for individual values. Because a single national is more valuable when the national honor is inviolable. In accordance with this, the doctrine of racial purity becomes understandable. The purer the breed, the more valuable its individual member is. It is the will of nature with regard to man to strive for a higher degree of development. National Socialism supports and strengthens this natural drive. The victory of National Socialist teaching is explained by the fact that it is deeper and more correct than previous teachings and that it understands the nature of man on both a national and a general level. "

- Konstantin Raudive, 1942

Before the Russians re-conquered Latvia in 1944, Raudive and the writer Zenta Mauriņa fled to Detmold via Silesia and the Ore Mountains . They married there in 1946. Eventually they emigrated to Sweden, where Raudive became a professor at the Swedish University of Uppsala . In 1965 the couple moved to Bad Krozingen .

Inspired by Friedrich Juergenson , whom he visited in Sweden in the mid-1960s , Raudive researched the electronic voice phenomenon (EPP) in Germany during the last ten years and was a leader in this field. With the help of a physicist and a electronics engineer he saved under strict laboratory conditions about 72,000 " dead voices " ( Raudive Voices ) on tape . He published books in which he documented and explained this phenomenon.

His estate (or parts of it) is in the German Literature Archive in Marbach . The Bad Krozingen City Museum, where a room was modeled on his wife's study, is also dedicated to his literary and parapsychological work.
