Konstantin Reinfeld (born December 25, 1995 in Kempen ) is a German harmonica player , producer and composer .

Career

Reinfeld got his first harmonica at the age of 13 , inspired by Michael Hirte's TV appearances . After an autodidactic phase, he occasionally took lessons from Carlos del Junco , Dennis Gruenling, Mariano Massolo and, most recently, Howard Levy . He also quickly mastered chromatic playing on the diatonic harmonica using the blown technique.

At the invitation of Steve Baker , he took part in the Harmonica Masters Workshops 2010 in Trossingen for the first time as a scholarship holder and Hohner made him the youngest endorser at the time . Reinfeld was on stage with Steve Baker, Abi Wallenstein , Martin Röttger , Joe Filisko, Eric Noden, the Kempen Big Band under the direction of jazz trumpeter Markus Türk and jazz pianist Manfred Heinen and his trio.

His first album Konstantin Reinfeld & Mr. Quilento was released in 2013 . Since then he has played a. a. at the Jazz Festival Viersen , the Düsseldorf Jazz Rally , the Seoul International Harmonica Festival or the Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival. In the same year Reinfeld was engaged as a soloist by the "World Harmonica Festival" in Trossingen .

After graduating from the Gymnasium Thomaeum , he began studying music at the Cologne University of Music and Dance in 2014 . His teachers include Hendrik Soll , Sebastian Sternal and Niels Klein .

In the same year he was the first participating harmonica player in the 29-year history of the competition to win 1st prize and DEW21 sponsorship prize at Jugend jazzt . This was followed by appearances as a guest soloist with the JugendJazzOrchester NRW . He also worked with the Museum of Art and Industry and the Hamburg University of Music and Theater .

His second album is named after the double star Algiedi and was released by Mons Records in late 2015 . For the specialist magazine Jazz Podium he proves himself to be the "new harmonica virtuoso in the jazz world".

In 2016 he was hired by the New Westphalia Philharmonic Orchestra as a soloist for the Ruhr Festival . This was followed by appearances with the Staatskapelle Weimar , the Philharmonic Orchestra Bremerhaven under Marc Niemann and the WDR Funkhausorchester for the live broadcast of Lindenstrasse in the Funkhaus Wallrafplatz .

In 2017 he presented his duo with the pianist Benyamin Nuss for the first time . In 2018 he released the album Reinberg: Old Friend with Christoph Spangenberg on piano , which, in addition to his own compositions, contains the central repertoire of the harmonica legend Toots Thielemans .

On October 13, 2019, Reinfeld was awarded the Opus Klassik in the category of young instrumental artists.
