Council Memorial Church Lainz Speising
The Council Memorial Church Lainz-Speising is a Roman Catholic parish church in the district of Lainz in Vienna's 13th district Hietzing at Kardinal-König-Platz 1.
church
The church was built in the immediate vicinity of the old Lainzer parish church at Lainzer Straße 154a according to a design by the architect Josef Lackner from 1966 between 1967 and 1968. The order of the Jesuits previously agreed to the demolition of the chapel. Josef Lackner and Ottokar Uhl shared the 2nd place in the restricted architectural competition . A first place was not awarded. Lackner then received the order.
The building appears next to Lainzer Straße as a broad, low cube and is a square central building . The four entrances inserted in the building corners are striking. The facade is designed with five rows of Leca concrete blocks , as well as with a fine, smooth concrete structure.
Former parish church
Before that there was a relatively simple neo-Romanesque church, which was built in 1885/86 according to plans by J. Mick. It was a religious and collegiate church of the Jesuits and was demolished in 1965 for the new church. It was a Holy Trinity Church and the parish kept this patronage.
