The Rabka Basin ( Kotlina Rabczańska in Polish ) in Poland is a large basin in Lesser Poland in the middle of the West Beskids . It is at an altitude of 500 to 600  m npm , the highest point is the Tatarów with 710  m npm

geography

The basin is part of the Rabka Beskiden and extends in the valleys of the Skawa and Raba whose watershed extends through the pool (the riverbeds km at the narrowest point only about 1.5 apart), between the Makower Beskiden in Northwest, the Saybuscher Beskids ( Arwe-Podhale Beskids ) in the southwest, the Insel Beskids in the northeast and the Gorce in the southeast.

The Rabka Basin is densely populated. The only larger cities are Rabka-Zdrój , from which the name is derived, and Jordanów . Other places in the basin are Skomielna Biała , Skawa and Spytkowice .

The fertile region is otherwise characterized by agriculture. Important trade routes from north to south and west to east have always crossed in the basin. These are the Kraków - Zakopane and Nowy Sącz - Chabówka lines, as well as the Zakopianka ( S7 and DK47 ) and DK28 expressways .
