Kottingwörthermühle is a district of the town of Beilngries in the Upper Bavarian district of Eichstätt .

location

The mill property is located in the southern Franconian Jura, southeast of the Beilngries parish on the Altmühl. From a field path in the Altmühlaue, which is now also used as the Altmühltal cycle path, a junction leads over a bridge to the mill; on the south side, the mill is connected to Kottingwörth via another bridge by a connecting road.

history

The Kottingwörthermühle was first mentioned as "Mühle zu Grögling" in 1306, when it was assigned to the Bishop of Eichstätt by an arbitration tribunal along with other goods. The millers seated here had to be considered by the bishop. For example, Heinz Müllner validated “2 courage grain and 1 pig for 6 Hungarian guilders” in 1407 (Mader, Hirschberg, p. 202). In 1516 Hans Gödelein von Pförring took over the mill; he received a letter of inheritance. He was able to repair the mill, which was defective at the time, with a loan and other services from the Hirschberg maintenance office ; In addition, he was granted three years of valid wasteland rights, that is, tax exemption. In the Thirty Years War the mill fell into disrepair; In 1644 it was quite desolate. It was later put back into operation. In 1741 the Augustinian Canons from Rebdorf Abbey owned the mill.

In the course of secularization , the property came into private hands in 1806. In 1927/28 a new weir system was built as part of the "Altmühl correction". A sawmill has been operated as the main branch of business since 1934. Grain milling ceased in 1972.
