Kaldorf is a district of the town of Beilngries in the Upper Bavarian district of Eichstätt .

location

The hamlet is located on the plateau of the southern Franconian Jura northwest of the municipality of Beilngries. From there, a road leads via Hirschberg to Kaldorf, which continues west to Wiesenhofen , another district of Beilngries.

history

Kaldorf was first mentioned in a document in 1305 in the Gaimersheim arbitration award; In the dispute between the Eichstätt bishop and Bavaria over the Hirschberg inheritance , the village was awarded to the dukes of Bavaria. The fiefdom of the bailiwick over the village has been known by name since the 15th century: in 1413 this was Erhard Marschalk, in 1439 Werner Marschalk and in 1449 the Benedictine monastery Kühbach . The latter received the Vogtei from Duke Albrecht in the same year ; the monastery was probably owned by the manor over most of the village since the 11th century. In 1493 the monastery sold its four estates in the village and the bailiwick to Bishop Wilhelm von Reichenau . This expanded the episcopal property in the village; Episcopal goods were lent to the Marschalke von Hirschberg. The von Stossenberg taverns as well as the Emmendorfer owned further noble families , whose ownership passed to the Absberger zu Rumburg . Two properties were owned by farmers in 1493. This ownership structure remained unchanged over the centuries until the secularization of 1802.

Kaldorf formed a community with the neighboring village of Wiesenhofen. In 1954 a land consolidation was carried out. On January 1, 1972, the municipality of Wiesenhofen and Kaldorf were incorporated into the town of Beilngries as part of the Bavarian regional reform . In 1983 there were six agricultural part-time businesses and an inn with 42 inhabitants.

In a field chapel built in the 18th century, according to Hofmann / Mader, there was a painted wooden figure of St. Sebastian , "a good job around 1500".
