history

The Schmid Dorf settlement was established in 1785 as part of the raabization on the corridors of the Meierhof Neuhof, which was part of the Hohenelbe estate . It was named after the kk Hofkommissär Schmidt, who was commissioned with the parceling. The place name has no connection to the legendary Langenauer blacksmith who kills the bear, the heraldic figure of the municipalities Dolní Lánov and Lánov . In 1834, 68 people lived in the 11 houses in Schmidtdorf . The Catholic parish was Nieder Langenau . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village remained subordinate to Hohenelbe.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Schmidtsdorf 1850 a district of the community low Langenau in the district administration Hohenelbe / Vrchlabí . After the inauguration of the new school in Mittel Langenau , the children from Schmidtdorf started school in Mittel Langenau in 1885. After the end of the Second World War Schmidtdorf consisted of 15 houses, including an inn and another tavern, and had around 80 residents. There was also a chapel in Schmidtdorf. The German population was expelled by October 1946, and there was only a minor resettlement. In 1948 the settlement was renamed Kovársko . Most of the houses in the village were demolished in the second half of the 20th century. During this time a large agricultural complex was built on the Prostřední Lánov cadastre on the other side of the Kovársky potok. As a result of the abolition of the Okres Vrchlabí, the settlement was assigned to the Okres Trutnov in 1961. In 1980 Kovársko lost its status as a district.

Today the settlement consists of only two houses. The Kovársko manor is already in the corridors of the Lánov commune.
