history

Founding years

The band was founded by chance during a stay in England by the two founding members Hermann Stadelmann and "Ulli" Ulrich Troy. After a first wild appearance in a pub in Billericay , Essex, where the two sang English as well as songs in the Bregenzerwald dialect, which Stadelmann claims the guests thought of as a very old Celtic dialect, they liked this pairing and decided to do so Foundation of the band.

A name was quickly found. On his early nightly forays into the night, Hermann was often greeted by a friend with “Hey, you old crowbar, are you still alive?”, Which is why he stayed with this name. A suitable name for Troy was then probably found on the spot "in a travel and creative e-mail in the former Gasthof Engel" . In 1977 several appearances in local inns and festive events followed and in autumn '77 the two recorded their first music cassette with the name “à Wäldarfise”, in German, a (Bregenz) forests festival. Mainly known melodies with dialect texts were deposited.

First break from 1978 to 1990

Due to the teaching activities of the band members at the music school and the grammar school in Egg , they ended their music career at the beginning of the 1978/79 school year. In the following twelve years there were only very few appearances at local events.

Comeback with "Allad no a Fise?" 1990

At the urging of a friend of the band, Ulrich Gabriel , the poetical and musical activities were resumed in 1990. Rolf Aberer, director of the Dornbirn Jazz Seminar , joined the band as bassist and arranger. In May the new MC "Allad no a Fise?" (Still a festival?) Presented. This was followed by a first tour in the Bregenz Forest with famous local poets. An appearance in Vorarlberg Today was also broadcast for publication. In 1991 the first concerts took place outside of the Bregenz Forest. The so-called "1st country tour" comprised six concert dates in the Austrian Rhine Valley . The next sound carrier appeared as early as November '91 , for the first time in CD format with the title D & d, drübor & drundor (above & below). The so-called "first Bregenzerwald Rap" could also be found on this CD. The ORF shot a video clip for the presentation. The tour ran with interruptions from November '91 to September '92, with a first concert in the federal capital Vienna in June . In April 1993 the CD / MC "Göbol- und Gomarleodor" (children's and lullabies) was released, which entailed another tour with 19 concerts. In the following years st & z played a few concerts in German-speaking countries and presented their last production for the time being in October '95 with the name "Forests want to sing forever?". In October of the following year they played their final concert.

Second break from 1996 to 2005

The second break lasted, the band joked about it after their comeback, "only 10 years". It ended in September 2005 when st & z took part in a benefit concert for the benefit of the victims of the flood disaster in 2005 and were enthusiastically cheered.

Reunification 2006

In spring a new production was finally released, which was recorded for the first time with the current line-up and, in contrast to the older works, consisted only of own compositions. The title of the CD was simply "jo", which was the answer to the previous album "Forests want to sing forever?" was to be interpreted. The comeback tour took the members across national borders to Germany and comprised 34 dates, most of which were completely sold out. In 2008 the first best of 'live CD' was released, which led to another tour. In the same year her seventh CD was released with the name "dia Sibt" (the seventh). After another tour, the band announced another break, which "due to their advanced age should not or could not last as long as the previous two" .

Third break from 2009 to 2014

After the final concert it was announced on the band's website that two concerts would take place in 2010 with the original line-up. A repetition is again planned for spring 2012. Ulrich Troy has meanwhile founded a second band called Kleaborar Bahnteifl , with which he has already completed five successful tours. In 2012 - in cooperation with the renowned Bregenzerwald company CAPO - a video clip for "Beckotobol Goscht", a cover version of "the Yodeling Ghost" by Patsy Montana with Bregenzerwald text, was released.

Reboot 2014

After the health-related resignation of Hermann (Stemmeisen) Stadelmann and the official farewell at the big Ma-Hilft gala of the Vorarlberg media house in December 2013, the remaining band members decided to restart in 2014. New in the band - which has now been renamed to zündschnur & bänd - is Irma-Maria Troy, the daughter of Ullrich Troy. The presentation of the new CD ObAcht took place in November 2014 in the ORF regional studio Vorarlberg. The following tour from November 2014 to December 2015 included a total of 25 concert dates, all in Vorarlberg.

40 year anniversary

In April 2016, zündschnur & bänd celebrated their 40th anniversary with a new tour. This program was a kind of 'best-of-program' in which many old hits and classics were presented (all rearranged by Rolf Aberer). A new video clip was also shown with the title: The Murder in Schwarzenberg - Anno 1891 - A timeless morality . It is the filmic and musical implementation of a spectacular murder case in Schwarzenberg in 1891.

Fourth break from 2017 to 2019

After 23 concerts on the best-of tour, there was another break. A continuation by and with Zündschnur & Bänd is planned for autumn 2019. The individual band members are now involved in various other projects. Zündschnur Ulli Troy completed a best-of tour with the Kleaborar Bahnteifl (10 years Bahnteifl & Otto Hofer) and had two appearances in a completely new formation, the Baggerboys . They - George Nussbaumer , Wolfgang Verocai and Ulli Troy - each produced a song with a video clip, Geäle Bagger (2016) and Kanisfluh (2017 ) on two politically highly explosive topics, the garbage scandal of the company Häusle GmbH in Lustenau and a planned gravel mining on the Kanisfluh ). For Christmas 2017, a new Christmas carol was created with the title Viel Tausod Kerza brennod hüt . In February 2019, the musical satire about the Austrian federal government under Sebastian Kurz was published: The Kurz & Kickl Kavallerie .

New start 2019

The fifth (new) start took place in October 2019. The current program contains 15 new songs. After a total of eight sold out events, all other dates had to be canceled in March 2020 due to the corona crisis . All appointments should be made up for in autumn 2020.
