The Krüselinsee (also just referred to as Krüselin ) is a mesotrophic lake in the Mecklenburg Lake District in eastern Mecklenburg.

Emergence

The lake in the sand area was created at the end of the Vistula Ice Age when the ice masses melted.

location

The lake in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District in the Feldberger Seenlandschaft nature park and the municipality of the same name southeast of its main town, Feldberg . The east bank of the lake belongs to the state of Brandenburg . In the northern part there is a smaller island. At the southern end there is an excursion restaurant and hostel, the Krüseliner Mühle. The lakeshore is quite hilly; the east and north banks are forested. About two kilometers northwest of the lake is the village desert Krüselin , which was named after the lake. The lake belongs to the nature reserve Krüselinsee and Mechowseen .

description

The Krüselinsee is 1700 meters long and 650 meters in the north and 300 meters in the south. It is the clearest lake of the Feldberg lakes and differs from their core group in its clear direction of flow. Its depth of view is about 12 meters. The lake is irrigated by ribbon springs from Dreetzsee, which is about ten meters higher . It drains over the Mechowbach into the Great Küstrinsee of the Lychener waters , which flows into the Havel , thus draining over the Elbe into the North Sea.

history

Originally the water level of the Krüselinsee was around 3 to 4 meters lower than today. The lake in its present form was probably only created around 1275. An official and later also a cutting mill was built for Feldberg. This plant existed until 1956. At that time, it was able to grind for up to 15 hours a day without the open water falling dry. In 1960, the Thomsdorf C 86 campground went into operation, which reached as far as the Krüselin. However, this extension was withdrawn in the early 1970s. In 1971 the lake was closed to internal combustion engine boats. In 1975 150 hectares including the Krüselinsee were designated as a nature reserve. In 1979 the drainage from the lake was piped, lowered and a stilling basin was built. During this time the water level was lowered to 26 cm below the edge of the coulter . One of the reasons for this was to provide the trout breeding facility at the Kolbatzer mill with sufficient water.
