Krasne is a village in the powiat Rzeszowski of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the rural community of the same name with around 11,000 inhabitants.

geography

The place lies on the border of the Rzeszów foothills (the southernmost part of the Sandomir Basin ) in the north and the Dynów Mountains in the south, on the right bank of the Wisłok , about 5 km east of Rzeszów . Neighboring towns are the town of Rzeszów in the southwest, the municipal seat Łąka in the north, Strażów in the east and Malawa in the south.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1399 as Craszne , then as Crasnopole / Krasnepole (1412), Crasnepole (1424), Kraszne (1436), Craszne (1468), Kraszna Polszka (1493), Kraszna (1500), Krassne (1589 ), Krasne (1646, 1794 ...). The name is derived from the word krasny (Polish archaic for red , beautiful , pretty , magnificent ) and fluctuated between the feminine ( Krasna ) and neutral ( Krasne ) forms. The suffix -pole (literally -feld) indicated depopulated desolations in the 15th century. The once mentioned adjective Polszka (1493) meant Polish , but the Nazi historian Kurt Lück described the village as an undoubtedly German settlement because of the mention of the surname Krasnar in the German-language aldermen book of the village Krzemienica from the 15th century.

The Roman Catholic parish was founded in 1412 by Małgorzata von Rzeszów and her daughters (the noble Rzeszowski family).

During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Krasne became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804). At that time the new Reichsstraße was built between Bielitz and Lemberg , through Krasne. After the abolition of patrimonial it formed a municipality in the Rzeszów district from 1850 .

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, the place became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Krasne was part of the Rzeszów Voivodeship .
