The Orosháza district (Hungarian Orosházi járás ) is a district in the southwest of the southeastern Hungarian Békés County . It borders on the Csongrád-Csanád county to the south and west . The district was created in the course of the Hungarian administrative reform in early 2013 as the successor to the small area of the same name ( Orosházi kistérség ) from 8 of the 10 municipalities. The other two municipalities came to the Békéscsaba district ( Csorvás and Gerendás in the northeast). The area decreased by 6,314 inhabitants (11%) and 130.96 square kilometers (15.4%).
The district has an average community size of 6,212 inhabitants on an area of 89.65 square kilometers. The population density of the second largest district is higher than that of the entire county. The administrative seat is the largest city, Orosháza , in the center of the district.
