888sport is a multinational company for sports betting , headquartered in Gibraltar . It was founded in 2008 and is a subsidiary of 888 Holdings PLC . The company offers online sports betting , primarily in European markets.

888sport was founded in March 2008 as a special sports brand by 888 Holdings.

888sport entered the sports sponsorship arena in 2010, starting with a sponsored booth at Fontwell Park Racecourse.

Santiago Cañizares , a former soccer player and member of the Spanish national team , joined 888sport as a European brand ambassador in 2011. In 2012, former English professional footballer Ian Wright followed as an expert on the European Championship , and in 2014 Emma Spencer, horse racing presenter on Channel 4 , joined as an expert on horse racing.

888sport received media coverage for the way it used social media before and during the George Groves and Carl Froch fight in 2014 . In 2013, 888 Holdings was granted an online gaming license by the Nevada Gaming Commission, making it one of the first non-American online gaming companies to operate in the United States.

888sport is a member of ESSA, the European body for the integrity of sports betting.
