Gyomaendrőd (Hungarian Gyomaendrődi járás ) is a district in the northwest of the southeastern Hungarian Békés County . It borders on the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county in the northwest .

history

The district was created at the beginning of 2013 for the Hungarian administrative reform from 5 municipalities of three small areas that were dissolved at the end of 2012:

  • Szarvas (336.51 km² with 14,351 inhabitants = 49 or 59.9%),
  • Szeghalom (295.54 km² with 9,241 inhabitants = 43.1 or 38.5%) and
  • Békés (54.16 km² with 388 inhabitants = 7.9 or 1.6%).

The district has an average community size of 4,143 inhabitants on an area of ​​102.03 square kilometers. The population density of the second poorest district is lower than that of the county . The administrative seat is the largest city Gyomaendrőd , located in the center of the district.
