The district of Békés (Hungarian Békési járás ) is an inland district in the southeastern Hungarian county of Békés .

history

The district of Békés was created in the course of the Hungarian administrative reform in early 2013 as the successor to the small area of the same name (Hungarian Békési kistérség ) made up of 7 of the 9 municipalities. The other two communities came to the districts of Gyomaendrőd ( Csárdaszállás in the northwest) and Békéscsaba ( Doboz in the southeast). The area decreased by 4,595 inhabitants (11%) and 108.63 km² (17%).

The district has an average community size of 5,106 inhabitants on an area of ​​75.03 square kilometers. The population density is higher than that of the county. The administrative seat is the largest city of Békés , in the south of the district.
