Murony is a Hungarian community in the county Békés in Békés county .
Geographical location
Murony is seven kilometers west of the city of Békés . Neighboring communities are Kamut , Mezőberény and Mezőmegyer, which is a district of the city of Békéscsaba .
history
Written records mention the settlement as Murul or Mwryul in the 13th century. In 1663 she was called Murunhely in chronicles. Later it was named Békésföldvár and belonged to the city of Békés. Since 1950 the place bears its current name Murony and has its own administration. The place had 1958 inhabitants at that time. For centuries the population has lived mainly from agriculture. After the Second World War, agricultural production cooperatives were established. The tallest characteristic building on the western outskirts is the tower of a seed production company built in the 1960s. The newly built church was consecrated in 2002 and the renovated medical center opened in 2005.

traffic
Road no. 4644 runs through Murony. There are railway connections in the direction of Szolnok and Lőkösháza . Passenger traffic on the route to Békés was stopped in 2007.
