Kristaps Zvejnieks (born February 15, 1992 in Riga ) is a Latvian ski racer and inline alpine runner .

Career

Alpine skiing

Zvejnieks started on December 6, 2007 in the FIS race in Geilo, Norway in the giant slalom, came in 65th place. Until 2011 he had competed in FIS races. At the Alpine Ski Junior World Championships in 2008 in Formigal , he came 36th in slalom, 47th in giant slalom and 52nd in Super G. The other participations in the Junior World Championships in 2010 , 2011 and 2012 were similar to 2008. In 2010 he took part in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver . There he was 62nd in the giant slalom and 37th in the slalom. On January 21, 2011 he made his debut in the European Cup in Oberjoch , did not qualify for the 2nd round in the giant slalom and was 41st in the slalom a day later. Zvejnieks was also in the Alpine World Ski Championships 2011 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . He finished 54th in giant slalom and 36th in slalom. On January 24, 2012, he started in the World Cup for the first time. In the 2011/12 European Cup season he scored his first European Cup point in Obereggen in slalom with 30th place. In the 2015/16 World Cup season , he secured his first World Cup points with a 26th place in the slalom of Santa Caterina Valfurva . This makes him the first ski racer from Latvia to collect World Cup points.

Inline alpine

At the European Inline Alpine Championships in 2006 in Prague , he came in 22nd place. On July 29, 2007, he started in the Inline Alpine European Cup in Smiltene , and reached seventh place. In the overall European ranking he came in 23rd place. At the 2007 Susten European Inline Alpine Junior Championships , he took fourth place. In the European Cup 2008 he celebrated his first victory in Smiltene and took 12th place overall. When the European Cup turned into the World Cup, Zvejnieks also started in the World Cup in Jirkov for the first time on June 27, 2010 and finished in 21st place. A season later he celebrated his first World Cup victory in Němčičky . In the 2012 season, Zvejnieks became world champion in slalom and became overall world cup winner. He has also been competing in the International Inline Cup since 2010 and won a victory in Degmarn and a victory in Sigulda in the 2012 season . In the 2013 season he won the World Cup stations in Genoa, Oberhundem and Jirkov. At the 2013 European Inline Alpine Championships in Degmarn, he finished fourth in the giant slalom.
