Kristijan "Rick" Krstacic (born February 28, 1981 in Nuremberg ) is a Croatian professional boxer and WBU world heavyweight champion.

Success as an amateur

Krstacic was multiple Franconian champion and national champion, he boxed in the 1st Bundesliga for Eichstätt and Straubing.

His amateur career began in 2002 and ended in 2008 after a traffic accident in which his meniscus , internal , external and cruciate ligaments tore.

The motorcycle accident was followed by three months in a wheelchair and one year of rehab . He spent eight months preparing for his next fight, which was the entry into professional boxing.

Professional career

In 2010 and 2011 he won all five fights early. In March 2012 he was after winning a title fight of the German Boxing Association champion in the cruiserweight division .

He defended this title in 2013 and 2014. In 2016 he won after disqualification of Georgen Giorgi Tevdorashvili in the 12th round in the fight for the cruiserweight championship title of the IBO .

Still unbeaten in his career, he lost to Russian boxer Yury Kashinsky in a WBO battle for the cruiserweight championship title in February 2017 . With the first defeat, whose fight Krstacic denied for the first time outside of Germany, a series of 13 previously won professional fights ended.

In May and June of the same year, fights followed in which he won prematurely. Against the Argentine Ruben Angel Mino, whom he knocked out in the 2nd round in a heavyweight title fight at the WBU , he won in May 2018. He won the second and last fight of the year in December.

He lost to Tom Schwarz in a WBO heavyweight title fight by knockout in March 2019 .
