The building at Kronprinzenstraße 20 is a villa in Bad Godesberg , a district of Bonn , which was built in 1910/11 and is now used as an office building. It is located in the district of Godesberg-Villenviertel on the corner of Kronprinzenstrasse and Mirbachstrasse. The villa stands as a monument under monument protection .

history

The villa was built as one of the later buildings on Kronprinzenstraße, which was built from 1898 onwards, as a home for the client Louis Krantz, a reindeer from Godesberg, based on plans by the architects Carl Metzmacher and Heinrich Czichos. After the building was completed, a winter garden was added in 1911 , which was demolished in 1964.

In 1971, the Republic addressed Chile , the firm at the villa and the consul arabteilung its embassy in the Federal Republic of Germany on the seat of government Bonn. In 1981 the property was completely renovated. In the course of moving the seat of government to Berlin (1999), the Chilean embassy moved there in October 2000. The villa is now used as an office building by private companies.

The entry of the villa in the list of monuments of the city of Bonn took place on March 17, 2000. The front garden area including the street-side fence is under monument protection as part of the property.

architecture

The villa is a two-storey, traufständig situated to Kronprinzenstraße stucco building with stone formations , high basement and verschiefertem Mansardwalmdach . The facade is characterized by luminaires , bay windows , balconies and gable gables and structured horizontally by floor and parapet cornices made of tuff stone and vertically by corner pilasters and bay windows made of tuff. The entrance to the building is accessible from Kronprinzenstrasse and is accentuated by a canopy of the entrance stairs supported by massive pillars, to which a two-storey risalit adjoins.

The outer structure and inside the floor plan as well as most of the furnishings, including parquet floors , wood paneling , stucco ornaments and wooden doors as well as the two original wooden stairs and a stone fireplace with decorative grille in the entrance area have been preserved in their original state . The street-side fence has also been preserved in its original form, it consists of a wall base and pillars made of basalt as well as decorative wrought-iron bars in between.
