The artificial pond Neudorf also the new pond as well as outdated Neudorfer artificial pond and gondola pond is a dam in the middle Lower Harz in Neudorf , Saxony-Anhalt. The artificial pond is part of the Unterharzer pond and ditch system .

description

The pond was created in 1764. The aim was to provide impact water for the pits in the Pfaffenberg mine area. The dam , operated today by the TSB , was built as an earth dam with a core seal. The crown length is 145 m, the crown width 4 m. The slope is 1: 1.65 (air side) or 1: 1.8 (water side). The height of the storage target is 406.19 m, the total storage space approx. 1 million m³ and the catchment area 1 km². Today the pond is used for flood protection and local recreation. The water surface at full damming is 3.8  ha , until 1892 it was 4.2508 ha.

It is likely that material around the pond was used as fill material. The dam does not have a drainage system; the seepage water is collected in open channels in the dam apron. In the absence of measuring devices, the seepage water is not measured. Both the air and the water side, the dam is overgrown to a large extent with old trees, primarily oaks and maples . A basic indulgence no longer exists. Originally this was in the middle of the dam. The oak grove channel was filled with loamy material after it collapsed. The crispness of the Grenztal located Border pond served until the collapse of Striegel shaft as a replacement bottom outlet. Since then, the pond has been operated without a bottom outlet. The flood relief system consists of a DN 300 concrete pipe that drains the water into an open natural channel. The channel unites below the pond dam with the water from the seepage water channels.

Since the restoration of the dam from 2012, the water is through a drain discharged. In addition, the bottom outlet was restored.

The artificial pond Neudorf has two pre-barriers: Neudorfer small pond 1 and Neudorfer small pond 2 , the latter of which has since been discarded. but, probably after a rehabilitation of the pond in the GDR , is back in operation.

Inflow and outflow

A tributary of a tributary of the Schmalen Wipper is dammed here. This is first dammed in the Neudorf community pond. Via this, the Neudorf artificial pond was connected to the Neudorfer Graben , part of the Silberhütte artificial grave . The brook flows a few hundred meters below the pond on the right into an unnamed tributary of the Schmalen Wipper on the left.

On the southwest side of the pond is the mouth hole of the drainage rose of the auxiliary art room in Pfaffenberg, which feeds water to the pond. A rose in the border valley once led away water. Between 1960 and 1970 the curry channel of the Rösche collapsed. Since then there has been no connection to the border pond and the pond is only drained into the flowing stream.
