Art Association Speyer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kunstverein Speyer is a German art association founded in Speyer in 1968 that organizes exhibitions with works by national and international visual artists.

history

A group of 170 art lovers founded the association on March 20, 1968, which had grown to 700 members by 2020. The first exhibition was opened in May 1968. From 1977 to 1999 the "Blue House", built in 1895 near downtown Speyer, was the building used by the association for exhibitions. The Kulturhof Flachsgasse, located in the old town, has been offering generous exhibition space since 2001, which the Kunstverein uses to hold eight to ten exhibitions of contemporary art, partly in collaboration with the Städtische Galerie . The art association also organizes regular cultural events. The chronicle of the exhibitions was compiled in 45 years of the Kunstverein Speyer and published in 2015. A digitized list of the exhibitions from 2004 can be found on the Palatinate art portal.
