The copper moor is a nature reserve in the area of the Baden-Württemberg community of Untermünkheim.
Characteristics
The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the Stuttgart Regional Council of April 18, 1967 and has a size of around 3.7 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 1.018. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 164302 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .
Location and description
The protected area is located in the district of Übermünkheim in the municipality of Untermünkheim, around two kilometers to the south-west of Übersigshausen. It is the only larger moor at the foot of the Waldenburg Mountains and is located in the natural area 127- Hohenloher and Haller Ebene within the natural spatial main unit 12- Gäuplatten in the Neckar and Tauberland . It is part of the 2740 hectare FFH area No. 6723.311 Ohrn-, Kupfer- und Forellental .
The area drains via the straightened Kupfermoorgraben to the copper , which rises at the edge of the village from Zusatzshausen , the upper course of which is a little longer to the mouth and turns there to the north.
Protection purpose
The main purpose of protection is the protection of the moor in its biological significance as a natural relic for flora and fauna and also as a unique plant-geographical link between the Upper Swabian moors and the Black Forest moors. It is also a document of the Württemberg forest history.
