The Grimmbach estuary is a nature reserve in the Baden-Württemberg community of Braunsbach.
Characteristics
The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the Stuttgart Regional Council of January 5, 1982 and has a size of around 8.4 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 1.096. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 81758 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .
Location and description
The reserve is located in the Kocher Valley between Braunsbach and the Braunsbach district of Geislingen . There the Grimmbach flows from the right . The mouth area of the Grimmbach between Geislingen and Braunsbach is a prime example of the diversion of a river by a flowing stream and the formation of an overdeveloped impact slope. The distraction forced the cooker to mark the western flank of the valley.
The Grimmbach estuary is located in the natural area of 126- Kocher-Jagst Plains within the natural main unit 12- Gäuplatten in the Neckar and Tauberland . It is completely enclosed by the landscape protection area No. 1.27.056 Kochertal between Schwäbisch Hall and Weilersbach with side valleys and is also part of the FFH area No. 6824.341 Kochertal Schwäbisch Hall-Künzelsau and the bird protection area No. 6823-441 Kocher with side valleys .
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose according to the Protected Area Ordinance is the preservation of a great teaching example for geomorphological contexts and for the dynamics of a river as well as the preservation of a diverse flora and fauna that is particularly worthy of protection.
