Characteristics

The areas were designated as nature and landscape protection areas by a joint ordinance issued by the Stuttgart Regional Council on January 14, 2003. The NSG is listed under the protected area number 1.256, the LSG under the number 1.27.090. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 318611 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

location

The protected areas are located along the Jagst between the Crailsheim district of Tiefenbach in the southeast and the Kirchberg district of Hornberg in the northwest. The landscape protection area consists of several sub-areas, as it complements the nature reserve over its entire length and on both sides.

The protected areas are located in the natural areas of 126- Kocher-Jagst Plains and 127- Hohenloher and Haller Plains within the main natural unit 12- Gäuplatten in the Neckar and Tauberland . They are also part of the 893.4 hectare FFH area No. 6825-341 Jagst near Kirchberg and Brettach . The direct course of the Jagst river with the wood on the banks is also designated for almost its entire length (from Jagstzell to the confluence with the Neckar near Bad Wimpfen ) as a bird sanctuary no. 6624-401 Jagst with side valleys , which is 852.2 hectares in size.

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the protection purpose of the nature reserve is:

  • Protection of the landscape and preservation of the unique surface forms of this valley section, in particular protection against further excavations and fillings as well as other changes in use that degrade this landscape structure;

The protection purpose of the landscape protection area is:

  • as a buffer area to protect the nature reserve from negative influences of all kinds, in particular building, afforestation, natural forest cover and rock mining, in order to preserve the geomorphological appearance of this river landscape. In particular, the typical use structure (hillside forests and huts, meadows, meadows and fields on the river terraces and on the plateau) is necessary for this as protected land use;

  • the preservation of the ecologically valuable interlocking between wooded and unforested areas as well as between the biotope structures;
