Kurt Butziger

Kurt Butziger (* 1936 ) is a former German politician ( SED ). Among other things, he was Lord Mayor of the city of Görlitz .

Life

Butziger, who studied business administration, was deputy chairman of the Dresden district council from February 1969 to 1979 and head of the trade and supply department. From 1971 he chaired the pension commission and from November 1971 was a member of the Dresden District Assembly . From 1979 to November 1989 he was Lord Mayor of Görlitz.

During his tenure, the living conditions for many Görlitzers improved thanks to the construction of thousands of new prefabricated apartments (especially in the northern district of Königshufen ), but at the same time old and Wilhelminian-style buildings fell into disrepair.
