Charlotte Umlauf

Charlotte Umlauf (* 1920 in Dresden ) is a former German politician ( SED ). Among other things, she was Lord Mayor of Görlitz .

Life

Umlauf attended elementary and business schools . From 1936 she completed a commercial apprenticeship and then worked as a sales assistant and accountant until 1942 . Between 1942 and 1945 she was a housewife .

After the war ended , she joined the KPD in 1945 . She was secretary of the city district VII in Dresden. From 1946 to 1949 she headed the central office of the Dresden city administration. From 1949 to 1953 she was commercial director of the municipal business enterprise horticulture and agriculture in Dresden, from 1953 to 1955 director of the VEB horticulture and agriculture Dresden.

After attending the SED district party school (1956/57), she served as mayor of Dresden's district III from 1956 to 1957. From 1957 to 1960 she was mayor of the Dresden-West district . From April 1960 to 1964 she was Lord Mayor of the city of Görlitz.

Umlauf later headed the main labor supply department at VEB Kombinat Elektromaschinenbau (VEM) Dresden. As such, she received the Clara Zetkin Medal in March 1985 .
