Siegfried Deinege (born May 19, 1955 in Zabrze ) was General Manager at Bombardier Transportation , Görlitz plant, and Mayor of the city of Görlitz from 2012 to 2019 .

Life

Siegfried Deinege was born in Zabrze (Hindenburg) in 1955. In 1959 his family left the People's Republic of Poland . Deinege attended the Polytechnic High School until 1971 and then passed his technical college entrance qualification. At the age of 17, he completed his metallurgy for shaping specialist in Freiberg in 1973 and then completed an engineering training for forging, pressing and drawing technology between 1976 and 1979 . In 1979 he started working as a forge engineer at VEB Waggonbau Görlitz . During this time he joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany one (SED) and was for several election periods until the end of the GDR secretary of the Department of party organization  4. He was also a member of the Combat Groups of the Working Class , a paramilitary organization of workers in the factories of the GDR. Here he was u. a. honored with the medal for excellent performance on the occasion of the International Fighting and Holiday of the Working Class on May 1, 1985. In the 1980s he completed his already existing engineering training with a distance learning course in general mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Dresden , graduated with a diploma and became head of production control in 1989.

With German reunification in 1990, Görlitz wagon construction had to be geared towards the market economy . As Head of Production, later Production Director (from 1995) and General Manager (from 1998) for Bombardier Transportation, he significantly influenced the technological conversion and the development of the wagon construction in Görlitz. In 2010 he moved to the group headquarters in Berlin and coordinated the production process in numerous plants worldwide as General Manager, Head of Operations Performance Management & Production Technology .

He has been married since 1979, has two children and is an avid motorcyclist. Deinege lives with his family in the Kunnerwitz district of Görlitz .

Siegfried Deinege stood as a candidate for the office of Lord Mayor of Görlitz in 2012. He was supported in the election campaign by an electoral alliance made up of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen , Bürger für Görlitz , CDU and FDP . His motto was "More trains have to get into our Görlitz". Critics accused him his job as the election campaign SED - party secretary before in the 1980s in wagon.

In the Mayor election on April 22, 2012, he won 69.82% of the votes cast and took office on July 16, 2012. Octavian Ursu (CDU) was elected as his successor in June 2019 .
