Georg Snay
Georg Snay (born April 27, 1862 in Minkowsky , Namslau district ; † December 3, 1930 in Görlitz ) was a German politician of the DDP , long-time Lord Mayor of the city of Görlitz and representative of his city in the Prussian manor house .
Life
His parents were the economic director Carl Snay and his wife Karoline geb. Chorus. He attended the Maria-Magdalenen-Gymnasium in Breslau and passed the Abitur there in 1881 . He then began to study law in Breslau and passed the assessor examination in Berlin in 1889 . This was followed by activities as a lawyer in Groß Strehlitz , Bernstadt and Namslau . In 1890 he married Agnes Buthut, the daughter of a Bernstadt judiciary.
In 1901 he moved to Görlitz because of his two children's schooling. There he became second mayor in 1904 and lord mayor in May 1906. He held this office until his retirement in 1927. He was given honorary citizenship of the city. In the former district east of the Neisse , the park at the Upper Lusatian Hall of Fame was named after him in honor of Snay .
