geography
The Nauzon rises as Ruisseau de l'Étang de l'Étourneau at the exit of the pond of the same name at an altitude of 345 meters in the south of the municipality of Saint-Mathieu in Haute-Vienne. The Étang de l'Étourneau is located in the forest of the Puy Haut in the immediate vicinity of the D 67 from Saint-Mathieu to Marval .
After leaving its source area, the Nauzon flows off in a north-westerly direction. After it has taken up the Ruisseau de l'Étang Neuf as a left branch shortly before reaching the D 675 , it turns to the west and from this point bears its actual name Nauzon. On its last 7 kilometers, it forms the departmental border between the Dordogne in the south and the Haute-Vienne in the north, before it flows into the Trieux coming from the left at the Moulin de Leymeronie mill at 185 meters above sea level.
The total length of the Nauzon is 11.6 kilometers and its catchment area 29 square kilometers.
According to SANDRE , the Nauzon has six smaller tributaries. The two longest are the left, 4.2 kilometers long Ruisseau de l'Étang Neuf and the right, 3.4 kilometers long Samaritaine , which rises on the southern outskirts of Saint-Mathieu.
