Kurt Kocherscheidt

Kurt Kocherscheidt (born July 6, 1943 in Klagenfurt , Austria; † November 13, 1992 in Wels , Upper Austria ) was an Austrian artist . He painted in oil and from 1986 also created wooden sculptures .

Life

Kurt Kocherscheidt was born in 1943 to Friedrich Kocherscheidt and Elisabeth Mayer. From 1953 to 1961 he attended the secondary school in Klagenfurt, where he began to be interested in geography and zoology, but also in art history. 1961 to 1965 he studied at the academies of fine arts in Vienna and in Zagreb . In 1966 he entered into a short marriage with the architecture student Angela Feuer.

In 1968 he founded the group Realities with Wolfgang Herzig , Martha Jungwirth , Peter Pongratz , Franz Ringel and Robert Zeppel-Sperl with a founding exhibition at the Vienna Secession .

From 1969 to 1971 Kocherscheidt lived in London . Here he began to sign his works with Kappa , which he reduced to a K from 1985 . In 1973 he married the photographer Elfie Semotan , with whom he has two sons.

In 1986 his works were exhibited in the Vienna Museum of the 20th Century . Two of his works were shown at DOCUMENTA IX in Kassel in 1992 . In the same year he had a solo exhibition at the Vienna Secession . Works by him can be seen in the Essl Museum in Vienna- Klosterneuburg .

The Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck showed from 2008 to 2009, a comprehensive exhibition of his paintings and sculptures, along with photographs of the artist and his workshop by Elfie Semotan.
