Kurt Scherzer

Kurt Scherzer (born May 12, 1920 in Fürth ; † November 1, 2006 ibid) was a German local politician.

Life

Scherzer studied law in Erlangen, where he also became a member of the Bubenreuther fraternity .

Scherzer belonged to the FDP . From 1964 to 1984 he was Lord Mayor of the city of Fürth . Scherzer is thus the mayor with the longest term of office in the recent history of the Middle Franconian city and with over 95.3% (1972) also with the second-best election result.

During Kurt Scherzer's tenure as Lord Mayor, a total of around 1.867 billion marks were invested in urban development. To this day, the city is shaped by a number of decisions that were made during Kurt Scherzer's term of office: The decisions on the Main-Danube Canal , the construction of the underground , the renovation of the old town, the opening of the pedestrian zone, the construction of the town hall and Centers in Fürth, as well as the acquisition of the castle in Burgfarrnbach by the city.

During his politically active time, Scherzer held offices in the Bavarian and German Association of Cities and in the German section of the Council of European Communities . He was also a member of the Central Franconian district assembly and a member of the board of directors of the Federal Labor Office .
