Kurt Tichy
Kurt Tichy (born August 17, 1925 in Vienna - Favoriten ; † June 20, 1999 in Vienna) was an Austrian entrepreneur and ice cream maker .
Life
Kurt Tichy and his wife Marianne founded their first ice cream parlor in a cellar in Vienna- Simmering in 1952 and sold their products in the allotment gardens . In 1955 Kurt Tichy moved to his home district of Favoriten and founded the Tichy ice cream parlor on Reumannplatz, which still exists today . In 1967 he invented one of his most famous creations, the ice cream dumplings , the manufacturing process of which he patented a little later (patent number AT271164). In 1974 he was given the right to use the Austrian national coat of arms for his company , and two years later he was awarded the title of Commercial Councilor for his entrepreneurial achievements.

- 1998: Citizenship Certificate of the City of Vienna ( honorary citizen of the City of Vienna )
- 1999: Commander of the Order of the Holy Pope New Year's Eve
- In 2004 Kurt-Tichy-Gasse in Oberlaa was named after him.
