Kurtis McLean (born November 2, 1980 in Kirkland Lake , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract since October 2018 since TUTO Hockey from the Mestis .
Career
McLean was initially active for the Durham Huskies in a local Canadian junior league, before running up in 1999 in the jersey of the Trenton Sting from the Ontario Junior Hockey League . Following this, the Canadian studied from 2001 to 2005 at Norwich University and went on the ice for their ice hockey team in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . McLean, who had never been drafted , was signed on September 29, 2005 as a free agent by the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League . The center forward played the following two seasons both in the dress of the Baby Pens and in some games for their farm team , the Wheeling Nailers , from the ECHL . In the course of his involvement in Wilkes-Barre, the Canadian was signed by their partner team, the Pittsburgh Penguins , who play in the National Hockey League . However, the right-handed shooter never played an NHL game for this.
After he had spent the 2007/08 season exclusively in the American Hockey League, he signed a contract with the New York Islanders in July 2008 . In the following season McLean was again predominantly in the AHL - now in the Bridgeport Sound Tigers jersey - active, but also played four NHL games for the Islanders, in which the attacker scored a goal. After only one season he was involved with Lukko Rauma in the Finnish SM-liiga , where McLean was voted the best foreigner in the league. After two years of activity, he signed a working paper for the SCL Tigers from the National League A . The center convinced in its first season in Langnau, in a storm formation with Lukas Haas and Simon Moser , was the best scorer (47 points), most successful player in power play (12 points), scored the most underpaid goals (3), had the best plus Minus balance (+11) and won the most face-offs (54 percent).
In June 2013 he was signed by Metallurg Novokuznetsk from the Continental Hockey League , for which he collected 22 scorer points in 49 KHL games. He was then committed in June 2014 by KHL newcomer Jokerit Helsinki , but dismissed in November of the same year. From December 2014 he was under contract with the KHL Medveščak Zagreb , but was only a supplementary player there and therefore moved to the Vienna Capitals in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga in July 2015 . In February 2016 McLean signed a contract with the Grizzlys Wolfsburg from the German Ice Hockey League until the end of the 2015/16 season .
From the end of August 2016 to October 2018 he was under contract with the EC Graz 99ers .
