Léonard Kasanda Lumembu CICM (born April 12, 1936 in Mikalayi ) is a Congolese clergyman and bishop emeritus of Luiza .

Life

Léonard Kasanda Lumembu joined the religious order of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and was ordained a priest on August 2, 1964 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Luiza on April 3, 1998 . He was ordained bishop by the Apostolic Nuncio in the Democratic Republic of the Congo , Faustino Sainz Muñoz , on July 26th of the same year; Co - consecrators were Cardinal Frédéric Etsou-Nzabi-Bamungwabi CICM, Archbishop of Kinshasa , and Godefroid Mukeng'a Kalond CICM, Archbishop of Kananga .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on January 3, 2014.
