The Lütje Hörn class consisted of eight port tugs of class 723, which were in service for the German Navy from 1958 to 1990 . Four tugs were then used by the Greek Navy .

General

The "harbor tugs, small (300 hp)" of class 723 were commissioned as part of the first aid ship program in 1955 for the naval bases of the newly established German Navy. The tugs were built in parallel at the Jadewerft in Wilhelmshaven , the Schweers ship and boat yard in Bardenfleth and the Braun shipyard in Speyer . The tugs were named after Frisian islands and sandbanks . The hull was made of steel and divided into five compartments by four bulkheads . Two Voith Schneider Propellers of type 14 ET 65 gave the harbor tugs good maneuverability and a bollard pull of 4 tbp.

From 1986 the units were gradually decommissioned and replaced by the Nordstrand class . With the exception of Mellum and Trischen , the ship names of the Lütje-Hörn class were taken over from the new and larger harbor tugs. The units handed over to the Greek Navy were transferred to Greece in 1991 with the dock ship Condock III .
