LAN Perú is a Peruvian airline that operates as LATAM Airlines Perú . It is a member of the aviation alliance Oneworld Alliance and is a subsidiary of the LATAM Airlines Group , which was created in 2012 from the merger of the Chilean airline LAN Airlines with the Brazilian TAM Linhas Aéreas .
history
The airline LAN Perú was founded in July 1998 by a group of investors around the Chilean-Mexican industrialist Boris Hirmas (1936-2000) as an offshoot of the Chilean LAN Airlines. On July 2, 1999, it took the Peruvian domestic air traffic from Lima Airport to the airports Cusco and Arequipa . After the withdrawal of Aeroperú , Faucett Perú and other companies, LAN Perú was the first major airline in the country. International air traffic began on November 15, 1999 with the start of the connection to Miami . As of September 2002, a majority share of 49% in LAN Perú belonged to the Chilean LAN, 30% were owned by ER Larraín , and a further 21% belonged to Inversiones Aereas . As part of the merger between the parent company LAN and the Brazilian company TAM, which began in 2010 and was completed in 2016, from which LATAM Airlines emerged , the Peruvian subsidiary LATAM Airlines Perú was rebuilt in 2015.
