The RICHARD HARTMANN up ZWICKAU were fast - Tender locomotive of the Leipzig-Dresden Railway Company (LDE).

history

The three locomotives were delivered to LDE by Hartmann in Chemnitz in 1849 with the serial numbers 11 to 13. They were given the names RICHARD HARTMANN , CHEMNITZ and ZWICKAU .

The locomotives were retired in 1865 and 1868.

technical features

The kettle was riveted from several shots. The standing boiler was equipped with a semicircular dome that protruded far beyond the long boiler and served as a steam collecting room in place of a steam dome. The two spring balance safety valves were located on the dome of the standing boiler.

In contrast to the English locomotives, the steam cylinders were arranged on the outside, which made an expensive and difficult to manufacture bolster axle unnecessary. The steam engine was equipped with an internal Stephenson backdrop control.

The locomotives did not have their own braking equipment. The brakes were only applied using the tender's hand-operated spindle brake.

The locomotives had the Kirchwegersche exhaust steam condensation device to preheat the feed water. The external feature for this is the second chimney on the tender. The exhaust steam was conducted from the valve body to the tender via a deep, approximately 100 mm thick connecting pipe.
