The Pegasus was a passenger train - steam locomotive of the Leipzig-Dresdner Eisenbahn-Compagnie (LDE). It was one of the first locomotives built in Chemnitz and Germany .

history

The PEGASUS was built in 1839 as the first locomotive by the Sächsische Maschinenbau-Compagnie in Chemnitz ; the assembly was carried out by the foreman at the time, Johann Heinrich Ehrhardt . In 1842, after a long trial run, it was bought by the Leipzig-Dresden Railway Company for 6,250 thalers . The unusable COLUMBUS locomotive was traded in. The construction of the PEGASUS was based on the English STURM locomotive .

In 1862/63 the locomotive was taken out of service by the LDE.
