The Brandenburg State Criminal Police Office is a higher state authority in the form of a State Criminal Police Office at the Brandenburg Police , based in Eberswalde .
The State Criminal Police Office is responsible for the conduct of investigations and the guideline competence in the fight against crime as well as crime prevention .
Mission and organization
The authority is part of the Brandenburg Police Headquarters. The Brandenburg State Criminal Police Office has its own investigative procedures and service functions for the entire state. The LKA has sole responsibility for all investigations into suspected organized and economic crime. There are also investigations into state treason, peace and high treason as well as the formation of a terrorist organization.
Situation reports are created so that the various problem areas can be better analyzed. The forensic technicians and the special units are not only available to their own federal state, but to the entire republic.
The LKA maintains the following branches: Cottbus, Frankfurt (Oder) and Potsdam. Dirk Volkland is the director.
