The DWA LVT / S is a diesel multiple unit for regional traffic with a low-floor entrance.

history

In 1996, Deutsche Waggonbau designed the DB class 670 double-decker multiple unit , which, however, was not operationally satisfactory. As an alternative, the DWA developed the single-story railcar LVT / S, which was designed to be more robust and suitable for full railways and was able to convince. With the takeover of DWA by Bombardier, there was no further construction or an expansion of the vehicle range to include a control car or a double multiple unit variant.

commitment

LVT of the Burgenland Railway as DB 672

In 1998, some vehicles were used by the Butzbach-Licher Eisenbahn on the Friedberg – Friedrichsdorf railway line because the GTW 2/6 that had been ordered could not be delivered on time.

19 vehicles have been in use on the Burgenland Railway in Saxony-Anhalt since 1999 (as of July 1, 2008). The vehicles are stationed in Weißenfels .

The vehicles were originally designated as KEG VT 3.01 to VT 3.18. Since the vehicles were taken over by DB Regio AG in 2004, they have been run as the 672 series. The inventory includes vehicles 672 901 to 904, 906 to 911 and 913 to 920. 672 912 was parked after a fire and 672 905 was retired on November 27, 2014. From April 2006 to December 2006 the vehicles were not in use due to frame damage for safety reasons until they were refurbished. Since March 2012, 672 919 and 920 were parked as pre-production models. They have solid shafts for which there are no test instructions that meet the requirements of the Federal Railway Authority .

Due to a redesign of the VT 2E of the Frankfurt-Königsteiner Railway (like the Butzbach-Licher Eisenbahn a subsidiary of the Hessian State Railway ), three units of this type were in use on the Königsteiner Bahn on weekdays from 2006 to 2007 . These came from Bombardier and were on loan. They now belong to the Hanseatic Railway GmbH .

In December 2011, the Sachsen Städtebahn rented a vehicle from Bombardier, which was mostly used between Pirna and Neustadt . Since December 2012 504 001 has been running on the Prignitz lines won by the Potsdam Railway Company , and since December 2014 504 002 has been a second railcar for today's HANS (Hanseatic Railway).

In 2018 the sale of three class 672 railcars (907, 919 and 920) by the DB to the Hanseatic Railway was published in the press. The railcar 672 919 was approved on April 6, 2018 as a reinforcement for the Hanseatic Railway. The 672 920 in June 2018. The vehicle VT 672 907 has been parked in Meyenburg since December.

Also in April 2018, 504 001 was damaged in a car accident, but has been in use again since July 2018. 504 005 was also badly damaged in a serious buffer stop accident in 2012 and served as a spare parts dispenser and now as a storage room next to the workshop.

At the end of 2019, the Dessauer Verkehrs- und Eisenbahngesellschaft acquired three vehicles (672 902, 913 and 915). These were transferred to Dessau on the night of January 14, 2020. Vehicles 672 913 and 915, which still had valid deadlines, were put into operation there by the end of March 2020. The passenger toilet was expanded to create space for a bicycle parking area.

construction

Like the 670 double-decker railcar , the vehicle is designed with a 1'A 'wheel arrangement and has a double door in the middle of the vehicle. It is powered by a Volvo diesel engine with an output of 265 kW and a mechanical automatic transmission of the Renk Doromat type.

The railcars have a longitudinal stiffness of 600 kN.

equipment

WC closed system, passenger information system from GSP, passenger counting device from Interautomation, Indusi I60 R PZB 90, train radio GSM-R.

Events

At the beginning of December 2008, a class 672 multiple unit drove 40 kilometers from Merseburg to Querfurt without a driver . There were no people on the train and there was no accident. The train was braked by the train control system because the speed of the train had exceeded the maximum permissible speed.
