La Bottine Souriante (LBS) is a folk band from Québec whose musical source is the traditional music of their region. In addition to traditional pieces, own arrangements are also played. LBS mainly uses the accordion , fiddle , guitar , piano and double bass as instruments .

The band was formed in 1976 and first played in the French-Canadian style with guitar, accordion and fiddle. Over time, the group expanded to include other instruments and styles. In 1990 a brass section with four instruments was added, which makes the music sound more jazzy . The group name means "the smiling boot", which is reminiscent of a work boot with worn soles. The band tours North America and Europe frequently and in 1998 they contributed a piece to the Chieftains' compilation of Canadian Celtic music "Fire in the kitchen" .

LBS band members changed frequently (not uncommon for a folk band). The group persisted even after the departure of the last band founder Yves Lambert and has an enthusiastic audience. The composition of the band has also changed and with it the style of the music. Numerous young musicians have been added since 2002 and LBS's musical style has again been renewed.

They have won three Canadian Juno Awards and several Félix Awards from the Quebec Record Industry. They are known for thrilling live performances and were voted Best Live Act at the BBC Radio 2 Folks Awards in 2000. BBC Radio 3 plays their music on popular programs.
