The Lady-M-Class is a former coaster class of the Spliethoff belonging group shipping company Wijnne Barends in Delfzijl .

The type of ship (of the shipyard as "HCC 3000" H igh C UBIC C ontainer 3000), sometimes only "High Cubic 3000" is called, is designed specifically for the transport of forest products such as wood package.

history

The ships were built at the Dutch shipyard Niestern Sander in Delfzijl and delivered between 1991 and 1996.

The ships have meanwhile been sold: For example, the Marie Christine went to Poland in 2007 as well as the Olga in 2015 , the Helene was sold within the Netherlands in 2008, the Kirsten to Finland in 2015 and the Magda to Norway in 2017 .

All ships were originally named with female first names. Around 2010 they were renamed for the shipping company's new name system - “Lady” plus first name. The class name was derived from the two last remaining ships in the series at Wijnne Barends, the Lady Mathilde and the Lady Menna .

description

The drive of the vessels is carried out by a four-stroke - six-cylinder - diesel engine of the manufacturer Caterpillar (type: 3606TA) with 1,850  kW power . The engine acts on a fixed propeller . The ships are equipped with a bow thruster with 240 kW power, which is powered by a Caterpillar diesel engine. Two Caterpillar diesel generators, each with an output of 85 kW, are available for power generation.

The deckhouse is in the rear of the ships. It offers space for up to eight crew members on three decks . In front of the deckhouse there is a cargo space divided into two compartments , which is closed with folding hatch covers consisting of eight segments . The front section of the room is 26.00 meters long, 10.30 meters wide and 9.56 meters high. The rear section is 31.85 meters long, 10.30 meters wide and 9.56 meters high. The room tapers in the front and rear areas to 5.09 meters in length from 10.30 meters to 7.36 meters in width. The hatch is 57.85 meters long and 10.30 meters wide. The total volume is 5,548 m³. The tank top can be loaded with 10 t / m², the hatch cover with 1.4 t / m².

The ships are prepared for the transport of containers . The total capacity is 136  TEU . Nine 20-foot containers can be stowed one behind the other - four in the front and five in the rear compartment - as well as four next to each other and three on top of each other. In the areas where the space is tapered, three containers fit side by side. One layer of containers can be driven on deck.

The ships were delivered with partly different equipment. Marie Christine , Helene , Mathilde and Menna were delivered with a gantry crane that could be moved over the entire length of the hatch. The crane was driven by a Caterpillar diesel engine with an output of 210 kW and could lift 15 t. The crane was later removed. Like Magda, Olga and Aros News were built without a gantry crane, but equipped with a hatch car.

The hull of the ships is reinforced with ice ( ice class 1B).
