Lahane Ocidental is an East Timorese Suco in the administrative office of Vera Cruz ( municipality of Dili ) and a district of the state capital Dili .

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Lahane Ocidental had an area of ​​3.16 km². Now it is 3.65 km². The Suco is to the east of the Vera Cruz administrative office. It was formed from the Sucos Alto Hospital and Bairo Alto after the independence of East Timor . To the north is the Suco Mascarenhas , west of the Suco Vila Verde and south of the Suco Dare . In the northeast, Vera Cruz borders the administrative office of Nain Feto with its Sucos Santa Cruz and Lahane Oriental , and in the southeast of the administrative office of Cristo Rei with its Suco Balibar .

The northern part of urban Sucos is more densely populated than the south, which still has open spaces and is already significantly higher with hills. In the northeast are the districts of Koreo and Aihanexun , in the southeast Nahaec ( Nahaek ). There is a primary school in Koreo and in the south. The one in Koreo is the Escola Primaria Katolica Lahane Ocidental .

The historic military hospital (Antigo Hospital Português) from 1860 is located in Lahane Ocidental. In 1947 a maternity hospital was built here, and from 1967 a children's hospital was added.

In the Suco there are the eleven Aldeias Ainitas Hun , Bedois ( German  "stinking water" ), Bela Vista , Care Laran , Correio , Gomes Araujo , Hospital Militar , Mota Ulun , Paiol , Rai Cuac and Teca Hudi Laran .

Residents

The Suco has 5178 inhabitants (2015), of which 2627 are men and 2551 women. The population density is 1419.5 inhabitants / km². There are 627 households in the Suco. Over 99% of the population name Tetum Prasa as their mother tongue. Minorities speak Lolein or Mambai .

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Bartolomeu de Araujo was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Filomeno Maria da S. Smith .
