State Youth Orchestra of Schleswig-Holstein

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Landesjugendorchester is a symphonic orchestra of selected young instrumentalists from Schleswig-Holstein . It consists of up to 100 young musicians between the ages of 14 and 25. The orchestra was founded in February 1985 with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Culture. The Schleswig-Holstein State Music Council is responsible for this .

Audition

Qualification for membership takes place via an audition. The maximum age of participants at admission is 20 years. After prior written registration, the invitation to the audition takes place. In front of the respective section head and the orchestra board, the new candidate presents a given passage from an orchestral work as well as a slow and a fast movement of their own choice.

Work phases

The work phases take place twice a year in the spring and autumn holidays in the Segeberg Youth Academy. The 9-day work phases begin with section rehearsals, in which the individual vocal groups are taught by university lecturers or experienced orchestra musicians. Tutti rehearsals follow under the guidance of qualified conductors. The rehearsal work ends with concerts in various cities in the country.

Other Projects

In addition to the work phases and the associated concerts, the orchestra also conducts concert tours in Germany and abroad. Joint programs with soloists (e.g. Sabine Meyer , Matthias Höfs , Nils Mönkemeyer ) and the LandesJugendChor have already been carried out several times. CDs were produced from the final concerts of the spring work phases 1990, 1997 (Brahms Requiem) and the autumn work phase 2001 .

Association of Friends of the Schleswig-Holstein State Youth Orchestra

The Verein der Freunde was founded in 1994 by former teammates, parents and advocates of the orchestra. Its aim is to secure the concert projects financially and to further promote the musicians. The orchestra has already implemented several projects through the association that go beyond the regular musical work of the LJO, such as the production of CD recordings or orchestral trips to other European countries.
