The Landsmannschaft Württembergia zu Hohenheim is a color-bearing and mandatory student union in the Coburg Convent (CC). Württembergia already existed ten years after the university was founded, making it the oldest association at the University of Hohenheim , which in turn is the second oldest university in the Stuttgart area .

What is unique about the Landsmannschaft Württembergia is that since it was founded in 1828, it can be proven that students of agriculture and forestry have always shaped the life and the maintenance of the connection. The Landsmannschaft Württembergia is one of the oldest agronomic associations in Germany. Since the 1960s, students from other departments have also been members, but they all have a strong bond with agriculture, which in addition to the social, professional or political commitment of numerous members is still expressed by their colors "black, gold, green" becomes. The long coexistence of the corporation since the Hohenheim University of Applied Sciences was founded is historically remarkable, which is also documented in a series of cultural studies by the University of Hohenheim .

With more than 250 members, the Landsmannschaft Württembergia is the third largest association within the Coburg Convent. In 1996/97 the association held the presidium of the Coburg Convent. The Landsmannschaft Württembergia is heavily involved in the sports department of the annual Coburg Whitsun Congress , which is considered to be the link between the academic connections and the Coburg population thanks to the public CC run.

history

Under the impact of one of hunger marked time of need one was in 1818 in Hohenheim agricultural teaching, testing and model institution founded, developed out of the passage of time today's University of Hohenheim.

Only ten years later, eleven students officially formed a table company under the name Württembergia . The founding members were already properly enrolled students in the first decade of the University of Hohenheim. The founding date is June 17, 1828 through a coat of arms, initially as a corps . The young students were looking for a friendly atmosphere to compensate for their studies. A little later the federal colors black-gold-green were chosen . The coat of arms of that time, which is still valid today, is handed down on a picture from 1831, which also contains the motto of the Landsmannschaft Württembergia. The circle , which is still valid today, was also used at that time. There were not yet any written statutes . However, value was placed on an impeccable way of life, mutual respect and satisfaction . In 1847 the still young federation was abolished due to involvement in political turmoil and could only be re-established on November 21, 1882.

Liaison house of the Landsmannschaft Württembergia 1973

The foundation stone was laid in 1907 for a living together in their own premises. The corporation house built directly on the Hohenheim campus was inaugurated in 1908. Since then, the Art Nouveau building has been renovated and expanded several times. In order to grow into the customs of student corporations, the Hohenheim students looked for connections with Stuttgart and Tübingen connections. In 1921 the friendship relationship with the Ulmia Tübingen country team was established. The close friendly relations with the Saxonia Stuttgart team resulted in a friendship agreement in 1955. The Landsmannschaft Württembergia has been a member of the German Landsmannschaft since 1920 and of the Coburg Convent since 1951; she is one of the founding members of the umbrella organization.

The seizure of power by the National Socialists in 1933 brought about drastic changes in the development of corporations . The student corporations, with their democratic convention principle and party-political independence, did not fit into their university policy concept. So the Landsmannschaft Württembergia had to close its Aktivitas in 1936 and forcibly hand over the house to the National Socialist student union . The friendly alliance between the Württembergers also survived the turmoil and horror of the Third Reich . As early as 1946, the first Württemberger met again in Hohenheim and were able to revive the Württembergerhaus in the winter semester of 1949/50.

In 1997 the Landsmannschaft Württembergia was presiding Landsmannschaft in the Coburg Convent.

Wuerttemberg study award

The Landsmannschaft Württembergia has been awarding the Württemberg Study Prize since 2004 . The Landsmannschaft Württembergia sees this initiative to promote university and non-university engagement as part of its study principle. The Württemberger Studienpreis is intended to honor not only professional performance but also so-called soft skills . The sponsorship award rewards university top performance in the exam and the extra-university commitment of young academics. The prize is awarded by a committee of the Landsmannschaft Württembergia.
