The state elections in Carinthia in 1960 took place on March 6, 1960. There were no changes in the distribution of mandates. The Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ) was able to defend its first place again and gain a slight share of the vote. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) also recorded slight gains and, as in 1956, was clearly ahead of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), which lost slightly. The Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ), which ran as “Communists and Left Socialists” (KLS), was able to hold its only mandate despite slight losses, while the National Social Workers' Party (NSAP) again clearly failed in its entry into the state parliament.

In 1960, 303,070 people were entitled to vote in the state elections, which meant an increase in the number of people entitled to vote by 15,036. The turnout in 1960 was 86.96% and was thus significantly lower than in 1956, when 94.26% of those eligible to vote still took part in the election.
