The Langfast in the Harz Mountains is 606.1  m above sea level. NN high southern foothills of the mountain ridge Auf dem Acker ( Acker ) between Lonau and Sieber in the non-parish Harz region of the Göttingen district in Lower Saxony .

Geographical location

The Langfast is located in the Southern Harz Mountains on the border of the Harz National Park to the Harz Nature Park between Lonau the west and Sieber in the east; both are districts of Herzberg am Harz . It rises as a mountain ridge moving south from the field , which forms the watershed between Großer Lonau in the west and Goldenke in the east and Sieber in the southeast. The ridge meets parts of the Siebertal nature reserve directly in the southeast . The Langfast, the western continuation of which is the Hirtenberg , merges in the southwest into the Großer Teichtalkopf .

Forest cover

The Langfast is forested with beeches in the lower elevations and with spruce in the higher elevations . In the period from 1596 to 1732, the southern part of Langfast was forested with oaks , beeches, hornbeams and aspen (quivering poplar), while in the higher areas predominantly beeches and sal willows , little maples , hornbeams, quivering poplars and ash trees stood.
