Laremy Tunsil Alexander (* 2. August 1994 in Harvey , Louisiana ) is an American American football poker players on the position of offensive tackles . He played college football for the University of Mississippi and was selected in the 2016 NFL Draft in the first round by the Miami Dolphins . He has been under contract with the Houston Texans in the National Football League (NFL) since 2019 .

college

Tunsil attended Columbia High School in Lake City , Florida . He was rated by 247Sports as a five-star recruit, one of the 32 best players of his year.

From 2013 to 2015 Tunsil football played at college . He attended the University of Mississippi and played there for the Ole Miss Rebels in the NCAA Division I FBS. He became a regular player in his first season and was elected to the team of the best freshmen of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

In the 2014 season he missed two games due to a biceps injury and started in eleven games. He was elected to the All-Star Team of the Southeastern Conference by the Associated Press . In the Peach Bowl , the final game of the season Rebels, to Tunsil broke shortly before the end of the first half fibula .

Tunsil was arrested on June 25, 2015 for domestic violence after an argument with his stepfather. According to Hugh Freeze, the head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels, Tunsil was defending his mother. His stepfather's lawsuit was later dismissed, but the latter opened an investigation into Tunsil for illicit donations from his college with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Tunsil was then suspended for seven games in the 2015 season. In his last college game, the Sugar Bowl on January 1, 2016, Tunsil caught a lateral pass and scored a touchdown from 2 yards away from the opposing end zone. The Rebels won the game 48:20 against the Oklahoma State Cowboys .

Shortly thereafter, Tunsil announced that he would forego a possible fourth year of college and sign up for the NFL Draft .

NFL

In the 2016 NFL Draft , Tunsil was considered one of the best available players. Shortly before the start of the draft, however, a video was published on Tunsil's Twitter account showing him smoking from a bong . As a result, he was selected much later than expected. For example, the Baltimore Ravens , who had the sixth right to vote, said they did not choose Tunsil because of the video. Ultimately, he was selected 13th by the Miami Dolphins . Subsequently, a conversation between Tunsil and a college representative was published on Tunsil's Instagram account, which was also hacked, which showed that Tunsil had illegally accepted money to pay his mother's bills. He signed a four-year contract for $ 12.45 million with the Dolphins.

At the Dolphins, he quickly established himself as a starter and ran in 44 of 48 games as a starter, so the Dolphins pulled his contract option to a fifth year.
