Las Mil y Una is an Argentine-German feature film under the direction of Clarisa Navas , which is also the script wrote. The debut film had its world premiere in February 2020 at the Berlinale and was shown there as the opening film in the Panorama section .

Women play the leading roles in this coming-of-age film . In a run-down settlement, Iris, a young woman with a tough past, meets Renata. She feels drawn to her and experiences friendship and first love in a hostile environment.

Clarisa Navas wrote the script and directed. Las Mil y Una is her second feature film. Sofia Cabrera , Ana Carolina García , Mauricio Vila and Luis Molina can be seen in important roles .

Production was in the hands of Lucía Chávarri and Diego Dubcovsky and the production companies Varsovia Films ( Buenos Aires ) and Autentika Films ( Tübingen ). It is therefore an Argentine- German co-production. Pluto Film Distribution Network GmbH is responsible for sales .

In 2018 the film project was presented at the Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián as part of the 7th forum on European-Latin American co-productions. The film was funded in 2019 with 30,000 euros from the Berlinale's World Cinema Fund . The project was also invited to the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival for the pitching session of the Industry @ Tallinn International Works in Progress in December 2019 .
