Panorama audience award
The Panorama Audience Award (or Panorama Audience Award, in short PPP ) is a film award, which as part of the Panorama program of the International Film Festival in Berlin will be given.
The prize was initiated in 1999 by the Berlin city magazine “ tip Berlin ” and the radio station “ radioeins ” (RBB) in cooperation with the Panorama section of the Berlinale . It has been awarded by radioeins, rbb television and the panorama section since 2017 . The PPP is the Berlinale's only official audience award.
Jury concept
Each visitor can rate the film seen in the panorama program using a voting card. There are six possible ratings from “Outstanding” to “Annoying”. The film that received the best average rating from the audience is the winner of the award. Since 2011, both the best feature film and the best documentary film have been awarded. The second and third places will also be announced.
With over 31,000 votes (as of 2014), the jury for the Panorama Audience Award is the largest independent jury at the Berlinale .
price
The Berlin artist Hubertus Brand designed the first Panorama Audience Award in 1999. It was a 40 cm high bronze sculpture in the shape of a female head, which was awarded until 2008. The statue was replaced from 2009 to 2013 by a bronze sculpture created by the artist Christian Bilger, which showed three intertwined P's on a grandstand. A plexiglass trophy has been awarded since 2014, on which a film strip with the three P's is indicated.
The award ceremony for the Panorama Audience Award takes place annually on the last day of the Berlinale .
