Bell from 1600 in St. Michaelis (Oberkleen)

Laux Rucker , hess. for Lucas Rucker (born before 1572; died after 1603) was a German bell founder in Hesse . He was an apprentice of the Frankfurt foundry master Nikolaus Göbel , son of Konrad Gobel . In 1572 he married in Frankfurt. After Nikolaus Göbel died in 1576, Rucker applied against Nikolaus' brother Simon for the position of Frankfurt gunsmith, but could not prevail. In 1586 he insulted the painter and printer Elias Hofmann and had to flee Frankfurt. Since then he has worked as a traveling caster, primarily in Central Hesse .

Manufactured bells

Rucker's bells have some similar elements, for example as reliefs of a Holy Spirit dove or an angel. Rucker also used certain sayings, some in Knittel verse , as well as Latin verses for the three bells cast for monasteries. The Rincker foundry claims his bell, cast for Netphen in 1590, in spite of the fact that the facts have been thoroughly investigated and to the contrary . The politician and winner country local historian Heinrich von Achenbach , of the Hessian name form Laux did not know, read the caster in the inscription 1897 falsely as Hans Rucer , leading them, influenced by a Rincker bell of the 18th century in the same tower an undetectable Hans Rincker was assigned. However, it has the typical Rucker elements and is geographically close to two other Rucker bells.
